Biography
Tracee Ellis Ross is an award-winning actress-producer-creative best known for playing Rainbow Johnson on ABC’s black-ish, and Joan Carol Clayton on Girlfriends. Ross has received numerous individual accolades for her acting work, including winning a Golden Globe Award and multiple NAACP Image Awards, as well as multiple Primetime Emmy and Critics Choice Award nominations.
Ross will next be seen in Focus Features’ “The High Note,” starring opposite Dakota Johnson – releasing via PVOD on May 29th. Directed by Nisha Ganatra, the comedy is set among the talent, fame and fast-paced world of Hollywood’s music scene. In the film and on the soundtrack, Ross delivers stunning vocal performances on five songs, including a duet with co-star Kelvin Harrison, Jr. called “Like I Do,” and “Love Myself,” written by Sarah Aarons and Greg Kurstin and produced by Rodney Jerkins. This marks the first time Ross has released a song, highlighting her dynamic voice in her role as recording artist Grace Davis. While being interviewed by Oprah Winfrey as part of Oprah’s 2020 Vision Tour, Ross gave fans an exclusive preview of her singing in the film, which was met with a rousing standing ovation and became one of the viral moments of the year.
Ross also uses her voice and vast social influence to advocate for joy and self-acceptance, and invites her more than 10 million social media followers to join her quest for inclusivity and equity.
