Biography

The Supremes, consisting of Florence Ballard, Mary Wilson, and Diana Ross, rose to fame in the early 1960s as a Motown act. With the help of the songwriting/production team Holland-Dozier-Holland, they achieved ten Billboard pop chart-topping hits between 1964 and 1967, including classics like "Where Did Our Love Go" and "Stop! In the Name of Love." The group evolved into Diana Ross & the Supremes in 1967, marking Ross's departure for a successful solo career. Despite lineup changes, the Supremes continued to release hits well into the disco era, achieving their final Top 40 hit in 1976.

Originating from Detroit as the Primettes, the Supremes signed with Motown in 1961 and quickly rose to fame with hits like "You Can't Hurry Love" and "You Keep Me Hanging On." The group underwent various lineup changes over the years, with Ross eventually leaving for a solo career. The Supremes continued to release albums and singles until their final concert in 1977. Subsequent reunions and solo endeavors by former members have kept the legacy of the Supremes alive in the music industry.
