The Moldy Peaches

Emerging from New York's early 2000s anti-folk scene, Moldy Peaches distinguished themselves with their raw musicianship, lo-fi sound, and emotionally candid songwriting, standing out from the era's rock revival. Led by Kimya Dawson and Adam Green, the duo transitioned from self-released CDs to their acclaimed 2001 debut album on Rough Trade, garnering international attention while opening for the Strokes before disbanding in 2004.

Formed in 1994 at a Mount Kisco open mic night, Moldy Peaches founders Green and Dawson began collaborating, releasing homemade recordings and occasionally expanding their lineup. Relocating to New York City in 1999, the duo added members and refined their sound, at times performing as a six-piece band. Despite lineup changes, the band's distinctive blend of lo-fi production and introspective songwriting captured a loyal following before their eventual breakup.
