Tal Bachman, son of Guess Who/BTO guitarist Randy Bachman, grew up surrounded by music and learned to play guitar on his own. After briefly studying political philosophy in Utah, he returned to Vancouver in 1995 to pursue songwriting. Bachman signed with Columbia Records after a successful demo tape and released his self-titled debut album in 1999, which included the hit single "She's So High." Despite subsequent releases not achieving the same success, Bachman continued to explore music and other ventures, including political commentary, before returning to recording in 2011.
