Biography
t.A.T.u. (Russian: Тату) was a Russian music duo formed by Lena Katina and Julia Volkova, who were previously members of the children's music group Neposedy. Managed by Ivan Shapovalov, the duo signed with Russian record label Neformat. Their debut album, 200 Po Vstrechnoy, released in 2001, achieved commercial success in Eastern Europe, leading to a deal with Interscope Records for an English-language version titled 200 km/h in the Wrong Lane (2002). The album reached platinum status in Europe, sold one million copies, and became the first foreign group album to top the charts in Japan.
t.A.T.u. gained international recognition with hits like "All the Things She Said" and "Not Gonna Get Us". In 2003, the duo represented Russia in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Ne ver', ne boysia", finishing third.
