Manchester-based artist Synkro, also known as Joe McBride, transitioned from dubstep and garage to a melancholic blend of drum'n'bass, ambient, and IDM in the late-2000s. Throughout the 2010s, he released a variety of EPs and albums through R&S sublabel Apollo, collaborating with artists like ASC, Arovane, and Indigo. His music evolved from bass-heavy dubstep tracks to atmospheric drum'n'bass and ambient compositions, culminating in the release of his second full-length album, Images, in 2019.

Initially part of the dubstep scene in the late-2000s, Synkro released numerous tracks on labels like Smokin' Sessions and Dubbed Out, showcasing his unique blend of dub reggae and UK garage rhythms. Collaborating with Indigo, he delved into atmospheric drum'n'bass, later signing with R&S sublabel Apollo and expanding his sound palette with downtempo and experimental releases. Synkro's musical journey led to the establishment of his own label, Synkro Music, and further collaborations with Arovane, culminating in the release of Images and solidifying his position as a versatile and innovative artist in the electronic music landscape.
