In the early 21st century, Pantera vocalist Phil Anselmo embarked on multiple side projects, including Necrophagia, Viking Crown, Christ Inversion, Southern Isolation, and Superjoint Ritual. Superjoint Ritual, featuring Anselmo on vocals and bass, along with Hank Williams III on bass for recordings, released their debut album "Use Once and Destroy" in May 2002, influenced by bands like Black Flag and Celtic Frost. After a brief hiatus due to internal conflicts, the band reunited as Superjoint, releasing their third album "Caught Up in the Gears of Application" in 2016.

Superjoint Ritual's debut album showcased their raw, intense sound, with influences from hardcore punk and metal. The band, known for their high-energy live shows, faced a temporary split in 2004 but reunited for successful comeback performances in 2014 and 2015. Under the revised moniker Superjoint, they returned to the studio to create their third album, maintaining their signature aggressive style and solidifying their status in the heavy music scene.
