Biography

Sublime was formed in 1988 by Eric Wilson, Bud Gaugh, and Bradley Nowell. Their debut self-produced album, "40oz. to Freedom," was released in 1992, leading to a record deal with MCA Records for subsequent albums like "Robbin’ the Hood" and their self-titled third album. Following Nowell's untimely death on May 25, 1996, the band faced dissolution, but their eponymous album, released in July 1996, achieved gold certification by the end of the year, selling over 7 million copies and solidifying their status as a prominent reggae-punk act. Sublime has since sold over 18 million RIAA-certified albums in the US, maintaining a lasting cultural impact.

In late 2023, Bradley Nowell's son Jakob Nowell joined original Sublime members Bud Gaugh and Eric Wilson on stage for the first time at a benefit concert for Bad Brains' H.R. The trio's musical chemistry and positive reception from fans worldwide prompted them to continue the Sublime legacy, ushering in a new era for the band with Jakob Nowell as the frontman.
