Originally known as Roxx Regime, Stryper was formed in 1983 in Orange County, California, by members Michael Sweet, Robert Sweet, Oz Fox, and Timothy Gaines. Transitioning to their new name, Stryper signed with Enigma in 1984 and gained recognition with their debut album The Yellow & Black Attack and the Billboard-charting Soldiers Under Command in 1985.
