Biography

Emerging from Richmond, Virginia in the early 2000s, Strike Anywhere is a politically charged punk rock band with roots in hardcore and punk traditionalism, often likened to Avail and 7 Seconds. Their music gained popularity through appearances in Tony Hawk video games, leading to successful albums like Exit English (2003) and Dead FM (2006). Despite limited recordings in the 2010s, the band maintained an active touring schedule, culminating in the release of the EP Nightmares of the West in 2020.

Formed in 1999, Strike Anywhere consists of vocalist Thomas Barnett, guitarists Matt Smith and Matt Sherwood, bassist Garth Petrie, and drummer Eric Kane. After releasing the EP Chorus of One, the band signed with Jade Tree and put out Change Is a Sound (2001), followed by Exit English (2003) and Dead FM (2006) with Fat Wreck Chords. Over the years, Strike Anywhere continued to tour extensively, with Sherwood departing in 2007. Their latest release, Nightmares of the West (2020), was launched under Pure Noise Records.
