Biography

Devin Townsend, frontman of Strapping Young Lad, is a busy figure in the rock & roll scene, also involved in running Hevy Devy Records and fronting bands such as Infinity and Ocean Machine. Since 1994, Strapping Young Lad has featured Townsend on vocals and guitar, alongside Jed Simon, Byron Stroud, and Gene Hoglan. After gaining attention from Century Media Records with a demo, the band released their debut album Heavy as a Really Heavy Thing in 1995, showcasing a humorous side to their metal sound. Following tours with notable acts like Entombed and Obituary, their second album City was released in 1997, leading to extensive global touring and the release of the live EP No Sleep 'Till Bedtime in 1998 documenting their Australian shows.
