Beginning his career with the punk-techno act Grauzone, Eicher's solo journey took off with his first album, Chansons Bleues, in 1983, showcasing his diverse language skills and evolving sound. As he continued to release albums like Silence and My Place, Eicher's collaboration with novelist Philippe Djian became a defining aspect of his musical direction.

By the '90s, Eicher had become an international sensation with successful albums like Engelberg and Carcassonne, which sold millions of copies worldwide.
