Stealers Wheel

Stealers Wheel, originally envisioned as Britain's answer to Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, faced lineup instability despite a promising start. Gerry Rafferty and Joe Egan formed the core of the group, showcasing their exceptional vocal chemistry akin to Graham Nash and David Crosby. Their self-titled debut album, produced by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, achieved critical and commercial success with the hit song "Stuck in the Middle with You." However, internal tensions and commercial pressures led to the band's eventual dissolution after releasing their third album, Right or Wrong.

Following their split, Rafferty and Egan faced legal disputes that hindered their music careers until resolutions allowed them to pursue solo endeavors. Rafferty later found success with the hit "Baker Street" and the album City to City, while Egan released albums for the Ariola label. Despite Stealers Wheel's demise, their music continues to be celebrated through compilations, with "Stuck in the Middle with You" remaining a nostalgic '70s favorite.
