DJ/producer Statik Selektah rose to prominence in East Coast hip-hop through his turntabling skills and savvy in PR and promotions, influencing the national mixtape circuit. Born Patrick Baril on January 23, 1982, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, he began DJ'ing in middle school and later established himself as a key figure in breaking local talent, notably Termanology, through mixtapes and club gigs.
