State Radio

State Radio, led by former Dispatch member Chad Urmston, blends indie rock songwriting with socially conscious lyrics and roots reggae rhythms, standing out in the jam band scene with a punk-influenced sound and political viewpoint. Formed in 2002, the Boston-based trio released the EP Flag of the Shiners before a temporary hiatus in 2003, returning as a trio with drummer Brian Sayers. Their sophomore album, Year of the Crow, in 2007, showcased a louder sound and sociopolitical themes, aligning with their commitment to service projects in each city they visited. Urmston also reunited with Dispatch briefly for charity performances, demonstrating their ongoing political awareness.
