Stacey Q rose to fame in the '80s with her hit "Two of Hearts," captivating both teens and clubgoers with her Madonna-esque image. Originally part of the synth pop group SSQ, she pursued a solo career after the release of their album Playback in 1983. Signing with Atlantic Records, her debut solo album Better Than Heaven in 1986 spawned the chart-topping single "Two of Hearts," followed by the hit "We Connect."

Despite early success, Stacey Q struggled to maintain her momentum with subsequent albums Hard Machine and Nights Like This in the late '80s. A 1995 greatest hits compilation overlooked her later Atlantic releases, and in 1997, she returned with the thematically different Boomerang album, exploring acoustic pop and rock. Transitioning to independent releases, she rekindled her dance-pop roots with Color Me Cinnamon in 2010, amidst a diverse career that included theater, voice-over work, and sporadic recording projects.
