Biography

French producer Ludovic Navarre, known as St. Germain, emerged in the '90s blending jazz and house music under various aliases before debuting with the album Boulevard in 1996. His music reflected a fusion of American R&B and jazz with the French house scene, drawing inspiration from artists like Laurent Garnier and Dimitri from Paris. Navarre's 2000 release Tourist on Blue Note pushed the concept further by incorporating a broader range of musicians and he has also remixed tracks for artists like Björk and Pierre Henry.

In 2015, St. Germain signed with Nonesuch and released a self-titled album after a 15-year hiatus. Inspired by his passion for Malian music, the album featured collaborations with musicians such as Brazilian percussionist Jorge Bezerra and Malian kora player Mamadou Cherif Soumano. The pre-release single "Real Blues" set the tone for the album, which showcased Navarre's continued exploration of diverse musical influences in his Paris studio.
