Sponge

Sponge, originating from Detroit and formed in 1992, gained prominence during the mid-'90s post-grunge era with hits like "Plowed" and "Molly (Sixteen Candles)." Despite their grunge influences, the band stood out with catchy hard rock hooks and jangly riffs. Led by frontman Vinnie Dombrowski, Sponge continued to produce music through lineup changes, releasing albums like Wax Ecstatic and Galore Galore before their most recent effort, Lavatorium, in 2021.

Originating from the remnants of Loudhouse, Sponge signed with Columbia in the mid-'90s and found success with their debut album Rotting Pinata. Despite facing challenges with record labels, the band persevered, releasing albums such as New Pop Sunday and For All the Drugs in the World. Through various lineup changes and musical shifts, Sponge remained resilient, delivering new material and reimagining their classic hits for a new generation of listeners.
