Biography

Originally a fictional band from the mockumentary film This Is Spinal Tap, the parody heavy metal group Spinal Tap became a real entity following the movie's release in 1984. Led by actors Michael McKean, Christopher Guest, and Harry Shearer, the band's satirical portrayal of a declining '70s rock group resonated so well that many believed Spinal Tap was a genuine band. Through a series of fictional albums and lineup changes, the band navigated a tumultuous career filled with bizarre incidents and comedic mishaps until they disbanded in 1983.

In 1992, Spinal Tap made a comeback, reuniting to release their album Break Like the Wind and embarking on a successful tour. The band continued to sporadically reunite over the years, making appearances at events like the MTV Music Awards and Live Earth concert festival. In 2009, they released the album Back from the Dead, solidifying their status as a beloved and enduring parody band in the realm of heavy metal music.
