Biography

After the breakup of Spacemen 3, Sonic formed Spectrum with Richard Formby and Mike Stout, releasing their debut album Soul Kiss (Glide Divine) in 1992. The band went through lineup changes and released various projects, including Highs, Lows and Heavenly Blows in 1994, collaborations with Jessamine, and Forever Alien in 1997. Spectrum resurfaced in 2008 with Indian Giver, a collaboration with Jim Dickinson, and continued to perform live sporadically, including opening for My Bloody Valentine and appearing at All Tomorrow's Parties festival in 2011.

Spectrum, led by Sonic Boom post-Spacemen 3, delved into ambient textures while maintaining a pop sensibility. The band's discography includes diverse releases like Indian Summer in 1993, collaborations with various artists, and the EP War Sucks in 2009. Sonic Boom's exploration of unique scales and compositional structures defined Spectrum's sound, culminating in their 2008 album Indian Giver with Jim Dickinson. Throughout the years, Spectrum's live performances featured alongside notable acts, showcasing their ethereal and hypnotic music legacy.
