Sol Seppy, born Sophie Michalitsianos in Wimbledon, London, debuted her unique blend of indie rock, dream pop, and indie electronica with her solo album The Bells of 1 2 in 2006, following stints with Sparklehorse. A classically trained cellist and pianist, she collaborated with various Australian bands before joining Sparklehorse on tour. Despite facing setbacks like a studio fire, Sol Seppy continued to craft music, releasing EPs and albums such as I.A.A.Y.A. in 2018, marking her return to the music scene after personal hardships.

Her musical journey evolved from contributing to Sparklehorse's chart-topping albums to establishing her own solo career, with a sound that combines classical, folk, shoegaze, and trip-hop influences. After a hiatus due to personal loss, Sol Seppy released new material, including the EP The Bird Calls, and Its Song Awakens the Air, and I Call in 2012, leading up to her 2018 full-length album I.A.A.Y.A. Initially released independently, her music eventually reached wider audiences through streaming services and digital platforms. The reissue of The Bells of 1 2 by Grönland in 2019 further solidified Sol Seppy's place in the indie music landscape.
