Soichi Terada

With his infectious grin and iconic Hawaiian shirts, Soichi Terada is a beloved veteran DJ and producer known for his deep house tracks from the early '90s and iconic video game soundtracks like the Ape Escape series. Venturing into various styles such as jungle and downtempo, Terada's career began with rock band Tax Flee in the late '80s before founding Far East Recording to release his electronic music independently. His bright, joyous house tracks, often co-produced with Shinichiro Yokota, gained traction among DJs, with hits like "Sun Shower" earning remixes from legends like Larry Levan.

Transitioning to jungle and drum'n'bass in the mid-'90s, Terada showcased his unique musical spirit across multiple genres. His foray into video game soundtracks with the Ape Escape series and collaborations with enka singer Akiko Kanazawa highlighted his diverse talents. A resurgence of interest in his early-'90s house tracks in the mid-2010s led to global recognition, culminating in the release of his house album "Asakusa Light" in 2022, recorded using the same vintage equipment from his '90s heyday.
