Slapshock

Slapshock, a Filipino band formed in 1996, blends hip-hop and heavy metal to create a brutal rap-rock sound reminiscent of Korn and Slipknot. With vocalist Jamir Garcia leading the group, they quickly gained a following in Manila's underground scene and drew both excitement and criticism for their intense music style. Despite skepticism, their debut album "4th Degree" in 1999 and subsequent releases, including "Project 11-41" in 2002, found commercial success in the Philippines and earned them accolades, such as Artist/Band of the Year at the NU-107 Rock Awards.

Slapshock's loud and violent music has often been likened to bands like Limp Bizkit, incorporating elements of East Coast hardcore rap into their sound. Emerging from Manila, the band faced both adoration and backlash for their abrasive style, but managed to sell out venues and dominate rock radio in the Philippines. Despite criticisms of being derivative, Slapshock's commercial success with albums like "Project 11-41" solidified their position as a leading force in the Filipino music scene, earning them recognition and accolades along the way.
