Biography
Formed in 1982 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Skinny Puppy emerged as a dark avant-industrial group influenced by Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire, and Suicide. The duo of cEvin Key and Nivek Ogre released their debut cassette, Back and Forth, followed by the EP Remission in 1984, marking the beginning of their collaboration with producer David "Rave" Ogilvie.
The addition of Dwayne Goettel in 1986 shaped Skinny Puppy's sound, blending industrial, goth, and electronic elements in releases like Mind: The Perpetual Intercourse and Cleanse, Fold and Manipulate. Despite internal conflicts and drug issues, the group signed with American Recordings and released The Process in 1996. Despite setbacks, Skinny Puppy continued to push boundaries with remix albums and collaborations, leading to a resurgence in the 2000s with albums like Greater Wrong of the Right and Handover.
