Biography
Simian, founded by James Ford and Jas Shaw in 2000, evolved into Simian Mobile Disco after the band split. Their debut album "Attack Decay Sustain Release" in 2007 marked their first hit with "Hustler". Subsequent albums like "Temporary Pleasure" in 2009 and "Unpatterns" in 2012 showcased their experimentation with modular synthesisers and unique soundscapes, leading to the stripped-down live recording "Whorl" in 2014. In 2017, they celebrated the ten-year anniversary of their debut album with the release of the hand-picked compilation "Anthology".
Their fifth studio album, "Murmurations", explores themes of starling formations and emergent behaviors, featuring vocals from Deep Throat Choir. Released on May 11, 2018, via Wichita Recordings, the album offers a thrilling sonic journey that seamlessly blends headphone listening with club soundsystems, showcasing a sound that is uniquely their own.
