Biography

Formed in 1996 after witnessing a solar eclipse in India, Simon Posford and Raja Ram came together as the psychedelic duo Shpongle to translate the experience into sonic form. Their debut track, "...And The Day Turned To Night," set the tone for their ambient/electronica sound and led to the release of their first album, "Are You Shpongled?" in 1999. Over the years, Shpongle continued to evolve their sound, incorporating Spanish and East Asian instrumentation in "Tales of the Inexpressible" and exploring world music themes in "Ineffable Mysteries" and "Museum of Consciousness." Their sixth album, "Codex VI," was released in 2017, and they played two sold-out shows at Red Rocks, Colorado in 2019 with plans for a seventh studio album in 2026.
