Biography

Since his emergence in 2005, ShockOne, also known as Karl Thomas, has been a dynamic presence in the Australian electronic music scene. Hailing from Esperance, Western Australia, the versatile producer and DJ seamlessly transitions between genres, starting with drum 'n' bass and later incorporating dubstep, drumstep, and electro house. ShockOne released his debut self-titled EP in 2009, featuring tracks like "Polygon" and "Adachigahara's Theme," and followed up with the Re-Fix EP the following year. His debut album Universus (2013) showcased his vocal abilities and collaborations with artists like Metrik and his sister Reija Lee. After relocating back to Perth from London, ShockOne released the EP In This Light in 2016, followed by remixes for artists such as Netsky and Chicane, leading up to his second album A Dark Machine in 2019, featuring the single "Run" with The Bloody Beetroots.

In 2020, ShockOne released standalone singles "It's All Over" and "Follow Me," which earned him the Best Independent Dance, Electronica, or Club Single award at the Australia Independent Record Awards (AIR). In 2021, he reunited with his sister for the single "Hardwired," and in 2022, he collaborated with Lee Mvtthews on the bass-heavy dance track "Thinkin About," showcasing his continued evolution and innovation in the electronic music scene.
