As a member of Bananarama, Siobhan Fahey found success in the pop music scene before forming Shakespears Sister in 1988, inspired by her punk roots. Teaming up with Marcy Levy, later known as Marcella Detroit, the duo's debut single Break My Heart (You Really)/Heroine marked a departure from Fahey's pop past, with their second single You're History achieving UK chart success in 1989.
