Biography

RuPaul Charles, the executive producer and host of RuPaul's Drag Race, has won 14 Emmys, the most by any person of color, and was named one of Time's 100 most influential people in 2017. A San Diego native, RuPaul gained fame in the New York City nightclub scene before achieving international success with his hit single "Supermodel (You Better Work)" in 1993, and has since released 18 studio albums. In 1995, he became the first face of MAC Cosmetics, raising millions for the MAC AIDS Fund, and in 1996, he became the first man to front a major cosmetics campaign and landed a TV talk show on VH1. With appearances in over 50 films and television shows, both in and out of drag, RuPaul has also authored four books.
