Biography
Roger Hodgson, born in Portsmouth, England in 1950, rose to fame as the lead singer of Supertramp, co-founding the band in 1969 with Rick Davies. Their breakthrough came with the hit album Crime of the Century in 1974, followed by the chart-topping Breakfast in America in 1979. After departing from Supertramp in 1982, Hodgson released solo albums, including In the Eye of the Storm and Hai Hai. Despite a hiatus due to a wrist injury, he returned to music with collaborations on Yes' album Talk and released a live solo album, Rites of Passage.
Hodgson's solo career continued with the well-received album Open the Door in 2000, leading to tours with Ringo Starr and solo performances. His live DVD, Take the Long Way Home: Live in Montreal, achieved multi-platinum status in Canada and gold status in France and Germany. In 2010, Classics Live showcased tracks from his global tours, which included performances with a symphony orchestra. Recognized for his contributions to music, Hodgson received the Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters from the French Ministry of Culture in 2012.
