Rockell, a New York-based dance-pop artist, channels the Hi-NRG and Miami freestyle sounds of the '80s in her music. Born Rachel Alexandra Mercaldo on Staten Island in 1977, Rockell was discovered while singing along to "Killing Me Softly with His Song" in a bar. Her debut single "I Fell in Love" was produced by Ewart A. Wilson, Jr., leading to hits like "In a Dream" and the successful album What Are You Lookin' At? on Robbins Entertainment in 1998. Collaborations with freestyle act Collage and producers like Hex Hector and Tony Moran followed, with notable singles such as "What U Did 2 Me" and a cover of Garth Brooks' "The Dance." Rockell continued releasing music in the 2000s, including singles like "L.O.V.E." and "Playin' My Love," and embarked on tours with other freestyle artists.

After a break, Rockell made a comeback in 2012 with the single "Turn Up the Heat," showcasing her enduring presence in the dance-pop scene. Throughout her career, Rockell has stayed true to her retro-inspired sound, captivating audiences with her energetic and nostalgic music.
