Ricky Van Shelton rose to fame in the late '80s and early '90s with his smooth baritone croon and country-pop ballad style. Born in 1952 in Danville, VA, Van Shelton's debut album, Wild-Eyed Dream, produced hits like "Crime of Passion" and "Somebody Lied," launching his successful career. His subsequent albums, including Loving Proof and RVS III, continued to top the country charts with multiple number one singles.
Despite facing personal struggles and a changing music landscape with the rise of artists like Garth Brooks, Van Shelton maintained a loyal fan base.
