René Aubry, a self-taught guitarist born in France in 1956, is a multi-instrumentalist known for creating unique sound atmospheres and inspired melodies. With influences ranging from Leonard Cohen to Philip Glass, Aubry has released 27 albums between 1988 and 2018, showcasing his diverse collaborations and personal sound experiments that blend unplugged instruments, electronic sounds, and computer programming music. Notably, between 2009 and 2019, he composed soundtracks for seven films commissioned by the BBC and produced by Magic Light Pictures, including award-winning works like "Stick Man".
In October 2019, Aubry contributed to the soundtrack of the animated film "La Fameuse Invasion Des Ours En Sicile" directed by Lorenzo Mattotti, adding to his impressive portfolio as a composer for dance, theater, and cinema. His work is characterized by true originality, a thirst for freedom, and a unique blend of acoustic melodies and experimental sound design.
