Corey Isiah Christie, known as Reks, began his music career in Lawrence, Massachusetts as a breakdancer before transitioning to become a prominent figure in the local Boston rap scene. Despite early successes and critical acclaim, Reks' national breakthrough was delayed, leading him to self-release his second album and distribute it from the trunk of his car. He later signed with Statik Selektah's ShowOff Records, leading to the release of his debut LP "Grey Hairs" in 2008.

Reks continued to collaborate with industry heavyweights like DJ Premier and Pete Rock, culminating in the release of his fourth album "Rhythmatic Eternal King Supreme" in 2011. Subsequent releases such as "Straight, No Chaser" in 2012 and "The Greatest X" in 2016 showcased Reks' evolution as an artist with consistent critical acclaim and moderate commercial success.
