Biography

Founded by guitarist Kogure Takehiko in the early '80s, Rebecca became a prominent force in Japanese music with vocalist Nokko (real name Yamada Nobuko) joining later. Nokko's rebellious image contrasted with the mainstream pop idols of the era, propelling the band to success with hit singles and albums that left a lasting impact on Japan's rock and pop scene.

After solidifying their lineup in 1983 with bassist Takahashi Noriyuki and keyboard player Dobashi Akio, Rebecca released their debut single "Wearham Boat Club" in 1984, followed by a string of successful releases. Despite member changes, the band achieved mainstream success with the album "Wild & Honey" and the hit single "Friends." Rebecca disbanded in 1991, with Nokko pursuing a solo career while occasional reunions and remix albums kept the band's legacy alive in the changing Japanese music landscape.
