Biography

Rachael Yamagata, known initially as the "troubadour of heartbreak," has evolved her sound since her debut album Happenstance in 2004, now focusing on themes of perseverance and empowerment. Her latest album Tightrope Walker, released in 2016 via Frankenfish Records/Thirty Tigers, has garnered critical acclaim for its innovative sound and deep exploration of the human condition.

Yamagata, who co-produced Tightrope Walker with John Alagia, has been praised for incorporating new elements into her music, such as saxophones and mandolins. The album, which features the single "Let Me Be Your Girl" starring Allison Janney in the music video directed by Josh Radnor, marks Yamagata's second independent release following her time with major labels. Additionally, she recently completed a successful tour of Asia, selling out eleven of the seventeen shows and introducing her latest EP Porch Songs.
