Prince Buster

Prince Buster was a pivotal figure in Jamaica's music scene, known for his influence in ska and rocksteady. His impact extended to the development of 2-Tone and the third wave of ska, and he continued to make waves in the industry for decades. Born as Cecil Bustamente Campbell in 1938, he began his career in music while also pursuing boxing. He quickly rose to prominence as a singer and producer, shaping the sound of Jamaican music with hits like "Oh Carolina" and "Al Capone."

Prince Buster's career was marked by his innovative productions and feuds with other producers, notably Leslie Kong. His contributions to the music scene were vast, with over 600 productions released in just eight years. His influence on the rude reggae era and his collaborations with various artists solidified his status as a legendary figure in Jamaican music history. Despite a hiatus in the '70s, he made a triumphant return in the late '80s and '90s, continuing to perform and record until his passing in 2016. His legacy as a pioneer of Jamaican music remains unparalleled.
