Primer 55

Formed in 1997 in Memphis, TN, Primer 55 emerged as a unique force in the rock scene, blending heavy metal with hip-hop influences. Guitarist Bobby Burns and vocalist J-Sin, along with bassist Mike "Jr." Christopher and drummer Josh McLane, quickly gained a following with their intense live performances and self-titled debut album in 1999. Signing with Island Def Jam, their 2000 release "Introduction to Mayhem" solidified their reputation with collaborations from artists like Incubus DJ Chris Kilmore and (hed) p.e. frontman MCUD. The band's relentless touring and musical prowess propelled them to the forefront of hard rock, despite a change in drummers in 2001 with the addition of John Kamoosi.

Primer 55's formation in response to the stagnant Memphis music scene led to a successful fusion of heavy metal and hip-hop elements.
