Formed in 1981 by Ronnie Atkins and Ken Hammer, Danish hard rock band the Pretty Maids quickly gained recognition with their self-titled debut EP released in 1983. After a series of lineup changes and successful tours, the band signed with CBS and released their first LP, Red, Hot and Heavy, in 1984. Over the years, the band continued to evolve their sound, achieving success with albums like Future World in 1987 and Sin-Decade in 1992, which included the hit single "Please Don't Leave Me." The Pretty Maids explored acoustic and live recordings in the mid-90s, followed by studio albums like Spooked in 1997 and Anything Worth Doing Is Worth Overdoing in 1999.

Despite facing challenges such as lineup changes and drummer Phil More's car accident during recording sessions, the Pretty Maids persevered as a duo with Atkins and Hammer at the helm.
