Preoccupations, the post-punk band formed in 2012 by vocalist/bassist Matt Flegel and guitarist Scott Munro from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, have evolved their sound through several albums. Starting with 2015's Viet Cong, the band's music mixed various genres fearlessly while maintaining a human pulse. Their subsequent releases showcased a progression towards subtlety, anthemic qualities, and confrontational themes, leading up to their latest album, 2022's Arrangements, which returned to their guitar-driven roots.

Originally known as Viet Cong, the band changed their name to Preoccupations in 2016 due to concerns about potential offensiveness.
