Biography

The Morning Benders, influenced by the Shins and Brian Wilson, blend sunny pop melodies with jangling guitars and indie sensibilities. Initially a solo project by frontman Chris Chu in 2005, the band expanded to include members from UC Berkeley, releasing EPs and their debut album Talking Through Tin Cans in 2008. Touring extensively and evolving their sound, they relocated to Brooklyn and collaborated with Grizzly Bear's Chris Taylor on 2010's Big Echo. After a member change and a name switch to Pop Etc. in 2012, the band continued to create music and tour.
