Biography
Planning for Burial, the project of American musician Thom Wasluck, blends gloomy experimental metal with elements of shoegaze, goth, and alt-rock, as well as doom, drone, and black metal. Operating as a one-man band since 2005, Wasluck's music combines the ominous black shoegaze of Jesu with the industrial metal of Nine Inch Nails' Fragile era. After releasing several LPs and splits, Planning for Burial gained recognition for its unique sound.
Based in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, Wasluck established Planning for Burial as a solo endeavor in 2005. The project gained momentum with the release of the debut album, Leaving, in 2009, followed by a reissue by Enemies List Home Recordings. Signing with The Flenser, Planning for Burial released the whiskey-infused Desideratum in 2014. Wasluck continued to evolve the project, drawing inspiration from personal experiences for subsequent albums like Below the House in 2017 and the compilation Matawan: Collected Works 2010-2014.
