Biography

Pimp C, along with partner Bun B, formed the influential Houston hip-hop duo UGK, gaining prominence in 1988 with a series of albums and guest appearances that solidified their status as one of Texas' most respected crews. However, Pimp C's career was interrupted in 2002 when he was sentenced to eight years in prison for probation violation related to a previous gun assault charge. Despite his incarceration, his solo debut album, Sweet James Jones Stories, was released in early 2005, showcasing his distinctive style.

After Pimp C's release, he delivered his true solo album, Pimpalation, in 2006. Tragically, he passed away in 2007 from an accidental overdose. Posthumous releases, including The Naked Soul of Sweet Jones in 2010, Still Pimping in 2011, and Long Live the Pimp in 2015, ensured his enduring legacy in the hip-hop community, showcasing his unique talent and influence.
