Biography
Formed in 1994 in suburban Andover, MA, emocore band Piebald quickly gained popularity in the Boston indie scene with their debut album "When Life Hands You Lemons" in 1997. Known for their lighthearted take on emo themes, the band released "If It Weren't for Venetian Blinds It Would Be Curtains for Us All" in 1999 before a brief hiatus to focus on personal endeavors. Piebald resurfaced in 2002 with "We Are the Only Friends We Have," earning critical acclaim and a dedicated fanbase. Despite setbacks like vocalist Travis Shettel's throat surgery, the band continued to tour and release music, including "All Ears, All Eyes, All the Time" in 2004 and "Accidental Gentlemen" in 2007.
During their hiatus, Piebald's early recordings were compiled in the retrospective "Barely Legal/All Ages," showcasing their evolution from high school garage band to indie darlings. Frontman Shettel also pursued a solo project, "Totally Travis," before the band reunited and signed with SideOneDummy Records in 2004. Their discography includes unique releases like the CD/DVD B-sides collection "Killa Bros and Killa Bees," showcasing their diverse musical influences. Piebald's resilience and musical growth were evident as they toured with notable bands like My Chemical Romance and Fairweather, solidifying their place in the emocore scene.
