After the release of their album Dark Flag in 2017, the band faced a period of stagnation due to touring commitments and personal obligations. However, the forced downtime during the pandemic allowed Phinehas, comprising members Sean McCulloch, Bryce Kelley, Daniel Gailey, and Isaiah Perez, to delve into introspection and confront personal struggles. This introspection led to the creation of their upcoming album, The Fire Itself, which focuses on themes of fear, anxiety, and self-realization, presenting a raw and authentic portrayal of the human experience. The album showcases a more intentional and edgier sound, emphasizing unity in their music and a deeper exploration of their individual experiences.
