Southern rapper Petey Pablo quickly rose to fame in the early 2000s with his breakout hit "Raise Up" in 2001, which propelled his debut album Diary of a Sinner: 1st Entry to the Top Ten and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album. His follow-up single "Freek-a-Leek" from 2004's Still Writing in My Diary: 2nd Entry further solidified his mainstream success before legal troubles led to a hiatus until his return in 2011 with mixtapes and, eventually, his third studio album Keep on Goin' in 2018.

Born Moses Barrett III in North Carolina, Petey Pablo made his mark in New York City, where he caught the attention of industry heavyweights like Busta Rhymes and Timbaland. Signed to Jive Records, his debut single "Raise Up" quickly gained popularity, reaching the Top 25 on the pop chart and setting the stage for his successful debut album.
