Biography

Paktofonika, a Polish hip-hop group formed in Katowice in 1998 by Magik, Fokus, and Rahim, blended ragga, funk, and jazz influences with introspective lyrics conveying personal struggles and a positive message. The group's debut album, Kinematografia, released in 2000, achieved commercial success and gold certification, but tragedy struck when Magik died by suicide shortly after its release.

Following Magik's death, Paktofonika released their second and final album, Archiwum Kinematografii, in 2002, featuring outtakes from their debut alongside new material. The group disbanded in 2003 after a final concert, with Rahim, Fokus, and DJ Bambus continuing to make music as Pokahontaz. Their story was later immortalized in the 2012 film Jesteś Bogiem, which became a major success in Poland, winning awards and spawning a gold-selling soundtrack.
