Pablo Milanés

Pablo Milanés, a key figure in Cuba's nueva trova movement alongside Silvio Rodriguez, played a significant role in modernizing Cuban folk music under Fidel Castro's government support. Known for his poetic lyrics and emotive vocals, Milanés rose to fame as one of the most revered musicians and songwriters in late 20th-century Cuba, releasing numerous albums throughout his career. While his unwavering support for Castro has sparked controversy among exiles and his ventures into jazz-pop have drawn criticism, Milanés remains a pivotal figure bridging traditional and contemporary Cuban music, maintaining his influential status well into the 21st century.
