Oro Solido, a popular merengue group in the late '90s and early 2000s, was led by Raul Acosta, also known as El Presidente, who was born in the Dominican Republic and raised in New Jersey. Acosta's early interest in music led him to join the children's group los Nictos Del Rey and later study music at Kennedy's Musical World, eventually forming Oro Solido in 1994 with Puerto Rican and Dominican musicians. The group quickly gained success with hits like "Esta Cache" and continued to release albums annually, receiving a boost in popularity when their song "La Paleta" was featured in the movie Shaft.

In the late '90s, Acosta briefly pursued other projects, including forming his own record label and producing music for his brother Miguel Acosta. However, Oro Solido remained a priority, releasing albums like Party Time 2001 and signing with Sony Discos for Aqui Si Que Hay in 2001. The group also saw success with compilation releases and continued to be a prominent figure in the Latin music scene throughout the early 2000s.
