Biography

Orishas, a pioneering Cuban rap group, was established in Paris before gaining international acclaim for their fusion of Latin rhythms and hip-hop. They covered a range of topics including immigration, identity, and Afro-Cuban religion across four studio albums and the Latin Grammy-nominated compilation Antidiotico. Disbanding in 2009, they reunited years later to record in Cuba, resulting in the 2018 album Gourmet, featuring collaborations with a diverse range of artists.

Originally formed in Paris in the late '90s, Orishas, comprised of Roldán, Ruzzo, Yotuel, and Flaco-Pro, debuted with A Lo Cubano in 2000, a groundbreaking Latin rap album that combined Afro-Cuban rhythms with socially conscious lyrics. Their subsequent albums, including Emigrante and El Kilo, expanded their popularity across Europe. After a hiatus, Orishas returned with Gourmet in 2018, showcasing their musical evolution through collaborations with artists such as Jacob Forever and Franco de Vita.
